About Dutch School Navigator

Helping International Families Land in the Netherlands — Not Just Arrive.

Moving to the Netherlands isn’t one decision, it’s dozens of them, made in the first year, often with too little information. Where will your child go to school? Will they understand a word of what’s happening on day one? Will you be able to read the note that comes home, follow the parent-teacher meeting, or just have an ordinary conversation at the school gate? A successful move isn’t the plane landing. It’s your family actually settling in, at school, and in the language that everything else runs on.

That’s the gap Dutch School Navigator fills. Not “find a school” as one service and “learn some Dutch” as an unrelated other, but one mission: help your family go from newly arrived to genuinely at home, with the two things that determine whether that happens. We handle the complexities, so you can focus on your family’s new chapter.

Stop guessing, start planning

Information is free, but in an overheated market, clarity is your most valuable asset. I provide the toolkit you need to navigate the school system with confidence: the ‘Cito’ scores, the lottery logic, the admission windows, and the language skills that turn “surviving here” into “living here”: understanding your child’s homework, following a teacher’s email, holding your own at the school gate.

Our mission isn’t just to find a school, or just to teach a language. It’s to help your whole family build a foundation where you can actually feel at home. Let’s stop the guesswork and start the planning.

My journey into the heart of Dutch education didn’t start in a boardroom, but in a classroom.

For years, I worked as a primary school teacher in the Netherlands, and since I moved abroad myself, I have been teaching Dutch as a second language (NT2) to non-native speakers. That combination is the whole point: I don’t just know which schools have the best reputation, I know what a child sitting in a Dutch classroom for the first time actually needs to keep up  and I know exactly what a parent needs to be able to help with homework.

When I moved abroad myself, I experienced the “Expat Weight” firsthand: the vulnerability of navigating a foreign bureaucracy, the isolation of not speaking the language, and the exhaustion of making life-altering decisions with limited, often conflicting information. That move is what turned two separate professional skills into one clear mission: relocation is not just a change of address, and it isn’t solved by a school placement alone or a language course alone. It’s a high-stakes transition of life, career, and family stability. School and language are the two levers that decide whether it succeeds.

I speak “Teacher,” “Government,” “Corporate,” and (quite literally) “Dutch” fluently. Four disciplines, one mission:

Dutch School Navigator was founded to bring all four to your table, as one thing rather than a menu of separate services. I don’t just find schools, and I don’t just teach Dutch. I provide the foundation, on both fronts, for a successful, long-term landing in the Netherlands.
