About Dutch School Navigator

Empowering International Families to Navigate the Dutch Education System with Confidence.

In the Netherlands, education isn’t just about picking a building; it’s about navigating a complex landscape of school types, lottery systems, priority zones, and ‘vrijheid van onderwijs’ (freedom of education).

Crucially, aiming for the right choice from the start is vital. Due to high demand and strict enrollment regulations, switching schools mid-term is notoriously difficult in the Dutch system. Once a child is placed, moving to a different school often involves long waiting lists and complex administrative hurdles.

This is where Dutch School Navigator steps in. Our mission is to help you get it right the first time, significantly reducing the risk of a mismatched placement and the stress that comes with it. We handle the complexities, so you can focus on your family’s new chapter.

Stop guessing, start planning

Information is free, but in an overheated market, clarity is your most valuable asset. I provide the toolkit you need to navigate the ‘Cito’ scores and the lottery logic with confidence.

Our mission isn’t just to find a school, it’s to help you build a foundation where your child can actually feel at home. Let’s stop the guesswork and start the planning.

Meet Esther: Founder & Educational Strategist

Portrait of Esther, founder and expert education consultant at Dutch School Navigator, smiling in a natural outdoor setting.

My journey into the heart of Dutch education didn’t start in a boardroom, but in a classroom.

With years of experience as a primary school teacher in the Netherlands, I know the system from the inside out. I understand how teachers think, how schools manage admissions, and where the “hidden gems” of the Dutch system are located. My expertise is built on the front lines of education, giving me a perspective that traditional relocation agents simply don’t have.

When I moved to Italy, I experienced the “Expat Weight” firsthand. I felt the vulnerability of navigating a foreign bureaucracy and the exhaustion of making life-altering decisions with limited, often conflicting information. This move redefined my professional mission: relocation is not just a change of address; it is a high-stakes transition of life, career, and family stability.

I realized that international families and the organizations that hire them need more than a list of schools. They need a navigator who can bridge the gap between educational needs, government policy, and corporate requirements.

I speak “Teacher,” “Government,” and “Corporate” fluently. My background offers a unique trifecta for high-end relocation:

Dutch School Navigator was founded to bring this multi-disciplinary expertise to your table. I don’t just find schools; I provide the strategic oversight necessary for a successful, long-term integration into the Netherlands.
